Former KING 5 (2019-2021) News Director, Pete Saiers, has been bounced from KTLA 5/Los Angeles. Saiers, KTLA ND at the time Lynette Romero exited the station six months ago, was despised by many of the KTLA staffers. At the time, FTVLive spoke with a person that had recently left KTLA and they said that News Director Pete Saiers was the main reason for Romero’s departure. The former staffer said that Saiers and General Manager Janene Drafs continue to compare LA to Seattle. Both Saiers and Drafs came from the Seattle market. “We are not Seattle,” the former staffer said. (9/22/22).
Romero was not given the opportunity to say goodbye on-air. The decision shocked KTLA reporters and anchors with Sam Rubin reading a statement concerning Romero’s decision to leave, after 24 years with KTLA. Romero’s Weekend Morning News co-anchor Mark Mester was suspended — and later fired — after slamming his bosses on-air for failing to give Romero a proper sendoff. Lynette Romero moved to KNBC-TV/Los Angeles, as weekday morning anchor in September 2022.
