Talk Radio Is Turning Millions of Americans Into Conservatives

“By 1963 President John F. Kennedy was so worried about what an aide called this “formidable force in American life today,” which was able to “harass local school boards, local librarians and local government bodies,” that he authorized targeted Internal Revenue Service audits and the use of the Federal Communications Commission’s Fairness Doctrine to silence these pesky conservative broadcasters. The result was the most successful episode of government censorship of the last half century.” — DNYUZ

  1. It shows how powerful the media is. I only feel that the fairness doctrine should be restored so people can hear both sides of an issue. Not to censor anyone. I feel that it is terrible to wish someone off the air because you do not agree with them. But air both sides. What is there to be afraid of? I am afraid that our divisiveness is going to be our undoing. I think I would be a lot less stressed out if we could just reach a middle ground. Maybe I would change my mind on certain issues. I do not listen to people like Rush or Dori because I do not like being bullied. If they would tone things down, them maybe I will listen. The further you try to swing the pendulum one way, the further it swings back the other.
