KEXP’s Kevin Cole Attends International Music Festival; Red-Letter Day For America’s Obsession With Deep-Fried Pastry

When it was announced that November 5th was National Donut Day, an alarm went off. Didn’t we celebrate National Donut Day just within the last six months? A quick Internet search reveals: Yes, we did celebrate THE OTHER National Donut Day in June. For some reason, there are two such days each year, on which to recognize the Long John, Bismarck/Maple Bar, donut holes, crullers, cream & custard-filled or glazed treats. National Donut Day falls annually on November 5th. The first Friday in June is the other National Donut Day. Why ask why?…Kevin Cole, drive-time host at KEXP FM, attended the Iceland Airwaves Music Festival in Reykjavík, Iceland this weekend. The festival ran from November 3rd through the 5th. Cole participated, hosting a set as DJ on Saturday. Billed as is an immersive, multi-genre music festival, the event was held across a multitude of venues in the country’s capital city. Appearing live were hundreds of acts ranging from unheard-of up-and-comers to headline status artists…Election night radio coverage at KIRO Newsradio will feature Dave Ross and Dori Monson hosting on Tuesday night from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. 570 KVI talk show hosts John Carlson and Ari Hoffman will broadcast in person from the Washington State Republican Party election watch shindig that evening from 6pm – 9pm just after Hoffman’s program. NorthWest NewsRadio 1000/97.7 FM KNWN should have expanded coverage that evening, but specifics are unknown at the time of this posting…
