TV Schedule – Oct 5, 1958

Schedule is from “The Vancouver Sun” & notes all stations receivable in southwest BC & the border regions of Wash.  at that time. Note the absence of KTVW-13, whose puny signal was barely more than faint images on the screen in these areas.  Even with tall rooftop TV antennas or the pioneering cable-TV system located north of Vancouver (on Mt Seymour which faces the Sea-Tac area unobstructed) it was not possible to get a clear signal on channel 13.  This schedule reflects new sign-on KIRO-7 which promptly took the CBS affiliation away from KTNT-11 after a nasty legal battle that would resurface again a few years later.  The early morning weekday grid shows stations on air – CBUT-2, CHEK-6 & KTNT-11 did not sign on until later in the day.  Both CBUT-2 Vancouver & Victoria’s CHEK-6 were CBC network affiliates.
