UPDATE: Nexstar to Acquire Tribune Stations

Reuters reports that Nexstar Media Group has agreed to acquire the Tribune Media Company for $4.1 billion, which will make the combined company the largest television station operator in America. The deal could be announced on Monday. Based in Irving, Texas, Nexstar is presently the second-largest local television station owner in the country, just behind Sinclair. Should the acquisition go through, Nexstar would become the largest local TV operator in the US. THEVERGE.COM
What does that mean for KCPQ 13 Tacoma-Seattle? For the short term, it means KCPQ could operate under the Nexstar ownership until such time that FOX purchases the station, or that deal between FOX and Tribune is now a moot point. The Nexstar purchase may put a wrench in the possibility of FOX getting KCPQ….stay tuned.
