Bruce King Dies

Bruce King, the longtime sports anchor at KOMO-TV, has died, according to the station. King, 83, retired in 1999 after 31 years with KOMO.. He moved to KOMO as sports director from 1968 to 1980. After a brief stint at New York’s WABC-TV, King returned to KOMO in 1981 and finished out his career there as one of Seattle’s most recognized sports media personalities…Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon has been accused of sexual harassment by an assistant for his sports marketing firm, according to a lawsuit filed in California. Moon has been granted a leave of absence from KIRO Radio…(Not the first such accusation against Moon, according to details at the Seattle Times…94.1 The Sound is already (Day 3) repeating some tunes as they continue to tout 10,000 songs uninterrupted. It loses some of the “POW” when you now have heard the same Air Supply tune three times in as many days…Lots of speculation concerning what new buyers and formats ALT 102.9 and KUBE 104.9 will see in the near future. My money is on a Hindi format at one of them and maybe Salem, Sacred Heart or some other religious broadcaster picking up the other. Neither station covers the Seattle metro very well…NWBROADCASTERS.COM mentioned that 98.9 KVRQ folks such as PD Dave Numme, APD/middays Kim Monroe and afternoon host Joe “Jeetz” Reder are all out of work since the Classic Rock station changed to Country this week…We will keep you abreast (no sexual innuendo intended) as format changes occur…Don’t forget, there is a good chance FOX will buy KCPQ 13 once the upcoming Sinclair-Tribune deal closes. Sinclair could be selling stations in each of the NFL markets…As for Sinclair Radio, KOMO etc, nothing mentioned so far about a sale, but Sinclair is not a major player at all in “radio”. If they keep KOMO AM & FM maybe that will change as time goes on…Weigel Broadcasting Co. has picked up KVOS TV and KFFV TV from OTA Broadcasting. Weigel is the owner of TV in Chicago and the mid-West, THIS TV (network), DECADES, METV, MOVIES (network) and this should be good news for viewers of KVOS and future viewers of KFFV.

    1. That posting was very retro-interesting…as for Warren Moon….I always suspected that he had drinking/womanizing problems, including some well-covered “situations” with his wife…His sidekick duties with Raible were not very informative…and it is interesting, how “buddy-buddy Raible was, on the air, with Moon…but when the crap hit the fan, Raible did not say one word about that situation!…Show business friendships!
