At this time I had to depart 1460-AM KGAA Radio in Kirkland, being on-air there from August to December ’79 for this new radio job in Tacoma at the former KTAC-FM in January ’80. Myself and Todd were hired by the new Operations Manager that we knew (Claude Rorabaugh http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1431157228) and Bob Warnes was still the mid-day anncr in his 60’s (not sure if Bob is still alive). 85 KTAC-AM was just down the hall and I have solid memories meeting greats Ric Hansen, Bruce Cannon, Robert O Smith, Jaynie Dillion, Ron Harris, Sean Carter, Robert Hardwick, Chuck Bolland (just naming a few), with Harold Greenburg running the station. My weekday evening shift was 6pm to midnight, announcing ID’s live every 15 minutes during ‘Beautiful Music’ on reel-to reels like THIS from my 1976 KEZX-FM days: (http://www.angelfire.com/wa/shookie/Schafer9031977.jpg)…only we would ‘manually’ hit the controls to start the tape machines with commercials played on carts in the studio. I became their production manager in late 1980 and with staff changes left in the Spring of ’81 to go to KTNT-AM/KNBQ-FM. Thanks Jason for posting this! 🙂

My friend Tim Edwards worked at KNBQ (met Tim first at KRPM FM)

As you may have guessed, I love that show. I thought Bailey was cuter that Jennifer, so I was in the minority.
