Old Friend, Swing Years Is Discontinued

You won’t hear it on the radio tonight. An old favorite has gone by the wayside, discarded…dumped. It was a regular Saturday night feature for so many years – 49 to be exact. Maybe the bulk of the core audience is dying off. Now, KUOW has decided not to continue the “SWING YEARS” program. How many of us remember the original host, Bill Snoopy? Most recent host, Amanda Wilde recounts how the program is researched and playlists compiled, in this Seattle Channel report by Feliks Banel

In the midst of a huge shake-up between Entercom and CBS Radio stations, business continues. Country “100.7 The Wolf” KKWF has appointed Drew Bland as its new Program Director. Bland, most recently from WWKA/Orlando, also spent a decade at CBS Country 107.9 KMLE Phoenix in multiple roles.

I’ve listened off and on, for 45 of those 49 years, since first moving to Puget Sound in 1972. Whenever I found myself near a radio and I’d realize “Hey, it’s Saturday night,” I would tune in “The Swing Years and Beyond” for a while. I’ll miss it..
