After 38 years on air, KIRO-TV news & sportscaster Steve Raible is retiring effective next week to enjoy ‘the good life’ with wife Sharon.  The announcement was made today on the KIRO-7 website.  Steve Raible retired from the NFL in the summer of 1982 after a six-year career with the Seattle Seahawks to join Seattle’s CBS outlet.  The station noted: ‘He’s interviewed presidents in Barack Obama and George H.W. Bush. He’s worked with some of the best anchors, reporters and producers in the region. And now, he will turn his attention to spending more time with his family and traveling the world while remaining committed to giving back to the Pacific Northwest.’

KIRO gave us such a wonderful opportunity after Steve’s football career to stay in the city that we love. We were privileged to have met so many creative and talented people both at KIRO and in the community,” Sharon Raible said. “I will miss all the people at the station and in the community that have helped Steve all these years and I want to thank them so much. It is time to move on, a little sad, but knowing that we leave KIRO and the viewers in capable hands. Our best to you all.”  Steve commented: “There was never any doubt that this is where (Sharon and I) were going to finish our career. This is where we were going to stay because this is the community that we love.” Ahead of Raible’s final newscast, KIRO 7 is taking a stroll down memory lane to honor the man who has given decades to the community and the Channel 7 Newsroom.  The week of celebration will conclude with a 30-minute special at 7 p.m. on June 25 as the Cox station takes a look back at a remarkable 38 year career & presents “Raible’s Retirement: Thank you, Steve!”  All the best for a great retirement to one of Seattle television’s most dynamic personalities from all of us at QZVX!

  1. In the pantheon of Seattle TV news, Kiro’s Steve Raible was as constant as King’s Jean Enerson. Wishing them great retirement in Washington state.
