Bye Bye K-ZAM, hello “Classy”

By June 1983, die-hard “K-ZAMers” knew the gig was up & that a new station would be soon heard on 92.5. Promos for the new format were in high rotation by the end of June. This short montage has some legal IDs I recorded before the switch. I also made a point of recording some of the promos about the new format. On the final promo, launch date is stated as July 18, but on that day – NO change & we got more of good ol’ KZAM for the remainder of the summer. It would be a mid-Sept. Monday that “Classy 92.5” would launch & it was several months before they added live air talent. The first of these would be northwest veteran Bruce Murdock. That’s Carol Handley you hear doing the Sunday morning jazz show IDs on this tape:

  1. KLSY did sign on July 18th and they debuted with live announcers in September with Murdock in the morning. I listened to the last evening of KZAM,they had a show called Get Back with Gary Ward and then signed off at midnight on July 18th,and then 6am they signed on as KLSY.
