  1. I knew Stu Martin from KOIN channel 6 in Portland where he hosted “Nightcap Theater with Stu Martin” from about 1974 to 1976.
He showed old movies with a LOT of commercials advertising all sorts of local businesses. He hosted a similar movie show at KVDO channel 3 in Salem before his stint at KOIN. I always liked him and wondered whatever became of him!

  2. Remember those adds for Auburn Way Mobile Homes? “this is your old buddy, buddy fester and have I got a deal for you”

    1. I recall seeing more than one film eaten by the projector/burning while playing on Channel 13. Then the “Please Stand By” slide went up.

  3. The Blaidon (Blaydon?) family bought it in about ’73 and improved the station very much before selling it. Think of all the money they missed out on.

  4. Each owner, up until the time Kelly Broadcasting took over, ran the station on a shoestring. It was black and white for most of those years.
