Nunley searching for next opportunity as Sinclair dumps Tulsa tv news team

**Update to this story: Nunley ended up in Salt Lake City at FOX 13 KSTU —

Everyone is out at KTUL/Tulsa, including recent addition, Christopher Nunley. Nunley, ex-KING 5 weathercaster, left Seattle to return home to be close to his ailing father. Nunley accepted the Chief Meteorologist position at KTUL a sort time later. In recent weeks, Sinclair Broadcast Group, owners of KTUL/Tulsa, laid off the entire news team and the station will be getting its newscasts from a Sinclair tv channel in Oklahoma City.

KTUL, Channel 8, the city’s Sinclair Broadcast Group-owned ABC affiliate, announced that all news the station airs will soon be produced out of Oklahoma City, although local content from Tulsa-based reporters will still be featured.

“Beginning December 11 we will be making changes to the way we produce news in Tulsa and refocusing our resources, establishing a regional content center to super serve the Tulsa and Oklahoma City television markets,” KTUL said in a statement. “This will allow hyperlocal news and weather content from both markets, as well as regional content, to be included in every newscast.”

The statement went on: “News airing on KTUL will now be produced out of our Oklahoma City content center, and will include live, local content with local reporters from Tulsa, paired with the resources of our content center at KOKH/KOCB. (Tulsaworld.com)

I am shocked about the loss of so many longtime reporters on channel 8.
I have been disappointed with the reporting since Sinclair took over. Now news is coming from OKC??? I guess they don’t realize that Tulsa is a very important city in Oklahoma reporting news for all of Green Country.
The loss of Mark Bradshaw, Chris Nunley and so many others was shocking to say the least.
Sinclair knew what they were doing yet they hired Chris Nunley and he was let go within months. He moved here to be closer to his family. Sinclair is a horrible corporation and employer.
I have been watching this channel change to something unrecognizable. Don and Gusty would be so disappointed. I will be watching channel 2 and 6 from now on.

We were saddened to slowly witness the loss of authentically competent and gracious newscasters at KTUL channel 8. We felt the impact, as watch ABC mostly for local/national news. So many absences and changes that are difficult to understand. With latest loss of Chris, we finally are understanding part of the problem becomes issues of loyalty, commitment, transparency. Is Brenna next? Sunny, Bud, Mark, Dan, Chris were all down to earth, intelligent and connected with their viewers. Being real and unbiased in their approach was comforting and we trusted their thoughtfulness and kindness toward any news item. So sorry the viewing audience was not considered for their opinions of these future changes. We were blindsided and felt it. Living well is best revenge. These folks will thrive for their integrity survives. Much good luck to all involved. You are deeply missed and wished well….so sorry this happened to all of you in Oklahoma, as this is not how we Okies were raised to treat others. Carolyn Watts

I have enjoyed watching Tulsa oklahoma channel 8 news for many years…going back to Don Woods and Gusty. This news is very disappointing. My television will no longer be tuned to Tulsa Channel 8. Best of luck to Chris Nunnley! Too bad for Channel 8.

I agree with everyone. We quit watching KTUL after what they did to Mark Bradshaw and others. I can’t see them staying in business in Tulsa anymore. Just stay in OKC. They are just money hungry corporates who don’t have any compassion to Tulsa. Don’t miss watching KTUL. Don’t know why the advertisers would want to stay with them.
