Erik Lacitis posted this evening… Patrick MacDonald, dead just short of his 80th birthday.
His sister, Madeline McKenzie emailed that Patrick had a heart attack and died yesterday. “He’s had health issues the last few years but has been feeling mostly well, so this was sudden and unexpected. I saw him early yesterday afternoon and he was in good spirits, looking forward to the celebration we were planning for his 80th birthday in a few weeks.”
Many of our readers will remember MacDonald, an early KOL-FM Progressive Rock-Jazz jock/PD (1969-1973). MacDonald was also a freelance reporter for Rolling Stone and was a reporter for the Arts & Entertainment department at the Seattle P-I.

He was a much read after watching a rock concert or even not seeing a concert that you wished that you had seen. A true legend of local journalism.
