KREM & KOMO’s Steve “SAW” Jackson passes

Steve Jackson, known by his many, many broadcast industry friends as “Saw” (as in “Chainsaw Jackson”) from his earlier days on 97/KREM in Spokane, passed away in a Seattle hospital Sunday. Steve had come to Spokane to pursue Radio and Television from his hometown, Omak, WA. His expertise in electronics opened the door at KREM Radio and Television, where he worked many years before being hired away to the Seattle market, where he did audio for KOMO Radio and Television all the way up to retirement. Steve will be remembered by many of his lifelong friends as “the guy who talked backwards”. Upon meeting Steve, former KREM & KING personality Andy Barber’s father even was quoted as saying that “Chainsaw Jackson is the funniest guy I ever met!” Steve leaves behind his wife, former broadcaster Rochelle Ogershock, and the couples daughter Erin. He was 73.
