Proving once again that there is nothing new under the sun, another radio station adopts a worn out format, hooking up with a network named BOB. Tri-cities 100.1 FM KQFO/Yakima reached into the cookie cutter bag and came up with the Envision Network’s Adult Variety format. The network sports a Country line called HANK and another called DUKE. The network touts having “over 1100” titles in the BOB library. That is NOT a lot of variety if you are a regular listener. But, as ratings show, after years of spinning a short playlist of classic hits, a station like KZOK or KJR-FM will still place in the Top 10 of the PPMs. The audience for radio will eventually dry up, as the subscription base for newspapers has, if radio is not able to compete with the alternative online media. A playlist of 1100 tunes is a joke. Thanks for the laughs, BOB.
