Aircheck: Sam Lawson, KBIG 104, Los Angeles, December, 1997

This was a Saturday overnight fill-in shift. I was actually the station’s engineer when I offered to fill in around the holidays. The PD had no idea that I had any on-air experience, and he wasn’t buying it. Unable to find anyone else on short notice, he finally agreed to schedule me where I could inflict only minimal damage. As I listen to it now, I can appreciate his concern.

  1. Sammy! Friend from outa the past, Dave Drui checking in wicha. Yesterday was my last day on the air here in Seattle on a station you probably never heard of for a company you probably have…just wound up 30 years with Salem Media Group. Hearing your bits on KBIG brings me back. Bonneville sold the AM side of KBIG, KBRT to Crawford Broadcasting in 1980 and I ran that station (into the ground!) from ’81 to ’83. Can you picture your old buddy Dave in “management”? Anyway, get in touch…would love to catch up.
