Chicago Jingles & Jocks: Legendary WLS-A.M.

Featured today are early ’70s jock shout-out jingles from Chicago’s legendary WLS-AM.  I found the files stored on my computer, when I was organizing material for an upcoming article.  The photos that accompany the audio match the order of the jingles. Don’t skip the audio track below the images: Follow along with the jingles by viewing the photos from left to right. By the way, I knew all of these names, famous deejays, but I didn’t know what they looked like. They were all so young!

Do you know your Seattle radio history? Many readers at QZVX know far more about Seattle radio than I do. However, I know for a fact that two of the jocks in the photos worked Seattle. The ’60s era Seattle DJ worked at WLS after his time in the northwest. The ’70s era Seattle DJ worked WLS before his time in the northwest. Can you identify the two former Seattle radio personalities? Furthermore, if Seattle radio historians know that some of these other guys were in the Seattle market, please leave a comment to that effect. Have a great Thanksgiving. We hope you will take a break, between the turkey and the dessert, to peruse the latest here at QZVX.

  1. Steven,
Thank You! Really appreciate the nod to a truly memorable era in Radio history! I grew up in the midwest and was addicted to “The Big 89” . . . WLS!!
