Emma, Jack, sit down and let me tell you how to run a radio station.

Audacy Seattle announced the rebranding of KSWD as Emma 94.1, “a new voice for Seattle women.” (RAMP247) Old-timers may remember that a Seattle FM ran a format called “Music Only For A Woman” at some point in the 1960s. That bombed, as this will. It is just a matter of time.

Hey Seattle radio programmers: OLDIES 50s through the 70s. Try it! Call it “Earl 99.9”

  1. U. S. Census Bureau shows Emma as #2 name for girls born in 2023. Seventy-six years ago, I had a third grade classmate named Emma Wiegel.

  2. I think Warm 106.9 will add more Hot AC content soon (and maybe delete the “oh-wow” songs and some of the softer 80s content) since there is now no Soft AC for them to compete against. It’s like they will delete Today’s Warm 106.9 and go back to The New Warm 106.9 and delete some of the softer songs they added. They may even plan out a new sound on December 26th during the Christmas season this year due to the change. IHeartMedia may already be planning changes due to Emma 94.1 being here next week such as maybe flipping 93.3 to something else such as back to KUBE or Modern AC. 94.1 may not go Christmas this year which could mean that 106.9 and 105.3 will be the only two all-Christmas stations in 2024 and onward for a while like it used to be

  3. “Emma 94.1 isn’t just a radio station; it’s a lifestyle brand and a community. We’re here to amplify the voices of Seattle’s influential women aged 30-45 and provide the music and content they’ve been missing.”

Oh Lord! I shouldn’t have had that 2nd slice of pepperoni pizza, it’s gonna come up in a second. I feel sick.

      1. Of course, they must stay politically correct or woke. We know this radio station will do NOTHING to elevate or give a voice to Seattle’s female population. Male or female, the listener only cares to hear the music, otherwise they will turn to Pandora. It’s all hype and I am sick of the disingenuous BS from these corporate shills. There is not an original thought coming out of corporate, one false move and you are FIRED. These geniuses are only fooling a very few and those numbers are dwindling.
Watch for a format change at 94.1 this time next year.

        1. I think people would rather want to hear Hot AC on 101.5 not 94.1. This will probably increase KRWMs listeners to the mid to high 4 share they had before 94.1 went to Soft AC. The people that they are fooling are probably some of the listeners that used to listen to KPLZ as Star and we will have to see if the ratings of the new station will be good or bad in the October books most likely.

  4. Pathetic really. Bruno Mars, Harry Styles, Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Maroon 5, Pink, Taylor Swift. They can’t claim they are filling a much needed niche in Seattle. This is a half-hearted toss of the dart. By the way, is this worth changing call letters? KMMA is not available.

On that note, KOOL Phoenix calls themselves K-BIG. They can’t have those call letters though. Those calls which belong to a station in Los Angeles (KBIG 104.3) that goes by the moniker MYfm.

    1. KOOL is actually Big 94.5, not K-Big. But in a PPM world, call letters mean something only to the FCC and radio geeks.

    2. They might change call letters. It might cause the ratings to plummet to where Star 101.5 used to be in the ratings or just plummet to the low 3 share which could cause them to flip it back to The Sound if that happens. IHeartMedia could be planning something for 93.3 soon for all we know despite the fact that it has good billing due to the fact that 93.3 could never beat 710 ESPN and due to the format change maybe to give 94.1 another competitor.

        1. Seems like I heart did a patriotic move in Tusla but not Seattle so I don’t think they are planning anything for Seattle for 93.3 yet. I think Emma might not be the only change as another station could come to attempt to compete with it, just not a Hubbard radio station. Warm already competes with them but they will probably add more Hot AC by the next PPM and may especially add more currents after Christmas. However Seattle already has patriot 1090 so that move was made in 2022 in the Seattle market.

          1. 1090 the Patriot (Conservative talk) sits below some HD 2 channels in the most recent Neilsen chart, in a murky puddle with two NWPB channels, below KJR-AM, KJR-FM and the KJR-FM HD channels. Would Conservative talk be the best choice for 93.3 FM?
Oh, how far KJR has fallen!

              1. I think the climate is right for Conservative Talk on FM if done right. A station would do well with a Rush Limbaugh type of aggressive delivery from morning and afternoon drive talkers. Maybe some actual phone callers.

    3. I honestly think they are planning to no longer do the Al-Christmas thing on 94.1 and leave Christmas Music to 106.9 and 105.3 for 2024 and onward since they are Hot AC and they chose not to flip as of right now. They probably would have flipped Monday or yesterday if they were planning to do Sox 95.7 likely isn’t planning to do all Christmas since they don’t normalllydo that and if they are planning it due to 94.1s format change It is probably planned for Friday but if they aren’t it’s just 106.9 and 105.3 just like it used to be for many years since I don’t believe any other Seattle stations would flip to all Christmas.
