Her X post was in error. Wayne Lynch Media Maven reports — “Turned out she was only going to be Tacoma Bureau Chief, as I correctly reported the other day, replacing Lionel Donovan. Current South Sound Chief Drew Mikkelson confirms to me he is not going anywhere, and that previous posts by Ms. Board are deleted.”
I blame her error on her zeal concerning her new assignment. But, she should be more careful of such things concerning her career and how her actions are seen by others.
Thanks Wayne for the good catch!
Conner Board on X.com – I am overjoyed to share that I am starting a new role as the South Sound Bureau Chief in September! I am so excited to start sharing the important stories around Pierce County & beyond.

I’ve heard a lot about her sister Charcuterie.
Talk about a jokester. Charcuterie was a real cut-up!
Spoke to Drew personally to confirm he is and has been South Sound Bureau Chief, which includes Olympia, of course, thus the other accompanying moniker. That’s a very important differentiator when the legislature meets and he owns the beat. King has had a Tacoma reporter since 2015 when it opened an office I scouted for them there on Pacific Avenue. The Bureau Chief title might just be a sweetener, because they have been thru a bunch of folks there in 10 years.
I believe Lionel Donovan was the former South Sound Bureau chief. The KING website lists Drew Mikkelsen’s title as “Olympia Bureau Chief”. Never heard of a Tacoma Bureau Chief unless that’s a new position they made for her.
Lionel Donovan took a new position at the Washington, DC Tegna station. Drew is the South Sound Bureau Chief. Connor is the Tacoma Bureau Chief. KING 5 had an office on Pacific Avenue in downtown Tacoma last time I checked. But that was pre-Covid.
They took the sign down a long time ago. Maybe they’re using it on the Shelton bureau.
I havent been by the old Tacoma Bureau street address for a long time, so not surprised if its gone. They needed an office ten years ago to view and edit tape and have a landline, but now, with all the telecasting and live internet in a backpack/phone, might not need a place to sit except in a news or personal vehicle to feed.
Where’s the current guy going?
Washington DC.
