Never fully retired
Ed Evans is the news director at a Mom & Pop radio station in Sequim. Though it is a non-profit operation, run by volunteers, KSQM has sponsors for many of the programs heard on the station. The Clallam County PUD sponsors the News with Ed Evans, just as it has done with commercial stations in Forks and Port Angeles. Other sponsors include real estate firms, HVAC companies and the Olympic Game Farm.
Before coming to KSQM, Ed Evans served as the Chief of the State Capitol News Bureau for KIRO TV (1980-91), Executive News Producer and weekend news anchor at KHON TV in Honolulu (1977-80) and weekend anchor and state capitol news correspondent with KOMO Radio and Television in Seattle (1968-77). After his career in broadcasting, Ed pursued a career in the ministry.
KSQM is also the home for Gardening with Ciscoe. Ciscoe Morris was the long-time gardening guru on Seattle radio/tv.
You might think that the tiny town of Sequim could not support more than one radio station, but there is another station in town with call letters similar to K S Q M. That is K Z Q M. KZQM is “Rocks Classic Hits”, Z-104.9 playing top hits from the 1960s-1980s. KZQM is owned and operated by Radio Pacific, Inc. KZQM’s sister stations are KONP and KSTI/Port Angeles.

K R K Z seems to be a play on ROCKS, but likely good music to listen to while cruisin’.
