KIRO TV 7 reconsiders Pat O’Day for hydro races

KIRO 7 TV has asked Pat O’Day to be part of the hydro race broadcasts after all. O’Day will provide background to the history of the hydros in stories to be broadcast on race day.
Previously, KIRO TV had told O’Day his services were not needed. After that story leaked to the Seattle Times the people spoke — or howled. KIRO Radio (owned by a different company than KIRO TV) asked O’Day to provide special commentary on radio for the hydro fans — he will do that, as well as duties on TV that day.

Sandusky sells to Hubbard in biggest radio deal of 2013

Sandusky has sold all their Phoenix and Seattle stations to Hubbard Radio, LLC., for $85.5 million. The five Seattle stations involved in the transaction are: KIXI 880; 92.5 KQMV; 1150 KKNW; 106.9 KRWM; and 98.9 KLCK. The five Phoenix stations are: 100.7 KSLX; 97.9 KUPD; 93.3 KDKB; 1440 KAZG; and 1060 KDUS.

Fire destroys xmttr shack on Bainbridge Island

A fire destroyed the radio shack containing transmitter equipment, located in the field near broadcast towers of KLFE/KNTS, on Bainbridge Island this morning. The stations are owned by Salem Communications.

Fisher GSM to Entercom

Entercom/Seattle appoints 29-year Seattle radio vet Bob Boyd as the new Director of Strategic Sales for its local group, beginning August 1. Boyd currently serves as General Sales Manager for Fisher’s crosstown News KOMO-AM & FM and Talk KVI-AM/Seattle. Boyd also founded Boyd Broadcasting Company, which purchased and sold two FM stations in the Reno, NV, during the late 1990′s.

KJR jocks shifted

Jodi Brothers, from the Bob Rivers morning show, takes over the mid-day slot from Lori Bradley. A change-up in the evening shift, 7 p.m. to midnight with Seth Thompson replacing Dan Roberts.

New to the KOMO newsroom

Delivering the latest Puget Sound area traffic information, PARIS JACKSON. Paris is part of the KOMO TV morning news team. She was a Washington State Cougar, and one year senior of my daughter Britt at Bellarmine Prep in Tacoma. So this is home-coming for her. Her most recent gig was at WVTM-NBC 13 in Birmingham, Alabama.

Former KUBE, MAGIC 108, KPLZ personality STITCH MITCHELL is currently hosting a sports program at KRKO Everett and spinning Country Classics at KKXA Snohomish.
