Buck Ritchey, in his sixteenth year at KVI, had at least three air shifts per day. Six years later, Buck jumped ship to become the brand new Kountry KAYO’s morning man and remained there until he passed away December 23, 1973.

There was once a nationwide telephone contest for a laundry detergent company, and my mother would always answer the phone with the winning phrase. Of course, none of the callers were from the soap company, but that was one of my earliest memories of one of the radio-tv contests (circa 1964).
