AllAccess.com says LOTUS COMMUNICATION’s KPLZ (STAR 101.5)/SEATTLE’s PM Drive Host JULIANONTHERADIO played CUPID on VALNTINE’S DAY, (2/14), for the city. Love was in the air, so he decided to go throughout WASHINGTON to spread the message of love with 100 red roses for random citizens.
Going throughout WASHINGTON??? It doesn’t look like he got very far. This photo was snapped on the 3rd floor of KOMO Plaza, just a few feet away from General Manager Gary Greenberg’s office.
If you are going to promote getting out and being involved in the community, just do it! KPLZ is trying to spike their numbers by giving away money. That only lasts for so long.
In radio, content is king. Show prep, keeping it all local, having something worthwhile to say each time you crack the mic and injecting humor into your program. If the only way you can engage the audience is with a money give-away, well…that is just sad.
NWBROADCASTERS reports: The FCC has granted an application by Kulshan Community Media for a new station in Bellingham. It will operate with 2 kW at 88.3 MHz. Kulshan also owns KMRE-LP 102.3 Bellingham.
