Apollo Global Management and Standard General have joined in a bid to buy Tegna stations, The offer is upwards of $8 BILLION. Tegna, spun off from Gannett’s broadcast operations in 2015 as a separate, publicly traded company — operates 64 television and two radio stations across 54 US markets. Another party interested in the properties is Byron Allen, owner of the Weather Channel. Allen, whose career began in stand-up comedy. has become a media mogul. He is head of Entertainment Studios and, in 2019, he partnered with Sinclair Broadcast Group in Diamond Holding Group to acquire Fox Sports Networks.
Matt Lorch leaves Q13 FOX September 30th. Lorch will devote his efforts full-time to charity fund-raising. A search for a replacement is underway, according to a Q13 press release.
Matt Lorch was a reporter/anchor at Q13 for 10 years.
Name Change: The Q13 Sunday night sports wrap, Q It Up Sports, will be called Seattle Sports Live, effective with the next broadcast, this coming Sunday at 10:30 pm. Aaron Levine is the anchor. Only the show title and graphics will change.
Q13 welcomes Charmin Flojo as Digital Producer, moving over from a similar position at KIRO 7.
Q13 brings back THE DIVIDE with Brandi Kruse, Sunday nights at 11 pm.
