  1. I always find it interesting to look back on these old television schedules from Victor’s postings. If you had been around during the timeframe, you’re given a wonderful snapshot of what was happening (entertainment wise) during that era. Oftentimes, I’m reminded of things I’d forgotten about. This particular posting offered memories of a summer replacement musical variety show that replaced the highly popular “Johnny Cash TV Show” during the summer of 1970. The listing for 9-pm on KOMO Channel 4 is “Johnny Cash Presents The Everly Brothers Show”. This particular show was the 7th in the series & featured guest stars The Lennon Sisters, Doug Kershaw, Albert Brooks and Michael Parks. Among the highlights, Kershaw performed “Rita Put Your Black Shoes On” and joined The Everlys for a medley of Cajun tunes … including “Diggy Liggy Lo”. The brothers joined the Lennon Sisters for “Anything Goes”. The Everlys also performed their hit “Till I Kissed You” and did a cover of “Take A Letter, Maria”. Another highlight was their cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Honky Tonk Woman”. Here’s a link to their unusual arrangement of the Stones’ hit that evening:

    1. Sure was a different ”Honky Tonk Woman”, but I did like it. On the other hand, I’ve always liked the Everly Brothers singing.

  2. A couple of good examples of the fairness doctrine in action: a dj running for public office, and KAYE’s long running battle with the FCC. I’m in favor of reinstatement of the FD, to damp down all the crazy talk on the publicly owned airways. Cable news can keep doing what they’re doing.

    1. P.S. Radio talk shows under FD regulation made for riveting listening at times. You couldn’t just spew a bunch of b.s. without any debate
