Sam Lawson’s Audio Vault: Mark and Katie Thompson, KSWD, “The Sound,” Los Angeles, 2015

Before KMPS/Seattle became KSWD, “94.1 The Sound,” the moniker was used by a Classic Rock station in Los Angeles. This clip comes from the LA version of the station with Mark Thompson in the morning and his daughter Katie, a regular on the show as “Chick on the Street.”

It’s St. Patrick’s Day and Katie takes her wireless mic to Tom Bergins, an Irish Pub. Her assignment is to sneak into a KTLA-TV live shot and plug “Mark in the Morning” on live TV. An unexpected turn leads to an endearing father-daughter moment. Also on the show are Gina Grad and Andy Chanley.
