Victor Stredicke – A KUBE Wedding

February 9, 1986
A couple will be married on-air during the “Charlie and Ty” show Friday morning on KUBE, 93.3 MHz. The event probably will be at 7:30 AM. This is the second on-air marriage for KUBE.
John Langan and KZOK parted company this month, apparently by “mutual agreement,” Langan was, of course, the irrepressible side of “the Brothers John” morning team. The down to earth side, John Posey, remains KZOK’s morning personality. Phil Strider said Posey will remain in the time slot, but that a new teammate might be added.
The KNBQ morning team, Rick Hansen and Chet Rogers, will broadcast from Mardi Gras, in New Orleans, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 6 AM to 9:30 AM on KNBQ, 97.3 MHz.

Mike Webb, midmorning disc jockey at KVI, has become program director as well, replacing Scott Burton, the off-air program director who revamped KVI into a solid gold format.
Burton is off to “alternate opportunities” back in either Phoenix or Scottsdale, Arizona.
Webb, with previous on-air experience at an oldies station in San Francisco, has modified the KVI music policy. If you tuned to 570 kHz nowadays you are more likely to hear more Beatles, more Elvis, more Ricky Nelson, and even an occasional Northwest rock pioneer group.
Webb also dumped Tim Edwards, morning announcer, in favor of Paul Walker, previously a KVI weekend announcer.

  1. 2007: John Posey, Owner & President of Lamiglas –My weekend job as a teenager growing up was sorting blanks in the factory, but my original career path had me going a different route. I had a career in Seattle as a radio host for a rock and roll station, but as the industry changed in the early nineties with big corporations buying up all the independent radio stations, I was looking for something different. In 1995, my father called with an offer and I jumped at the opportunity. I’ve been with the company ever since as National Sales Manager handling all our sales staff, new product introductions, and national accounts.

…Lamiglas has been in existence for fifty-six years and is one of the, if not the oldest, large, American rod company still under private ownership…

  2. From AllAccess.com in 2008: Condolences to family and friends of former radio personality and station owner SCOTT BURTON, who died after a battle with cancer on WEDNESDAY (3/26) in ARIZONA. Among BURTON’s radio stops were KFRC-A and KNBR-A/SAN FRANCISCO, WWDC-A/WASHINGTON, WHK-A/CLEVELAND, WDGY-A/MINNEAPOLIS, KSD-A/ST. LOUIS, KFMB-A/SAN DIEGO, KVI-A/SEATTLE, and KTAR-A/PHOENIX. He was also owner and GM of KSTM/PHOENIX and served as a consultant for several years.
