FCC Opens Door To Possible Apollo Global Duopoly In Seattle TV Market

The FCC approved Gray Television’s purchase of Red River Broadcast’s NBC affiliate KDLT Sioux Falls, despite the fact that Gray already owned ABC affiliate KSFY, in the same market.

While TV ownership groups look at this as a win and shows that the FCC might be letting groups by up more stations in a single market, others see it as a slippery slope.

Since Apollo Global, buyer of COX Media stations, has an eye on Tegna also, I repeat my claim that Apollo might own both KIRO 7 and KING 5 in a year’s time.

Twisting the radio dial…

A suburban Portland AM station, KLYC, has been sold by Celebrate Life Network to Wesley Simkins’ Promedia Partners for $8,000 plus the assumption of $2,362.50 owed to broker Rockwell Media Services. Oldies 1260 KLYC McMinnville OR and the CP for 99.1 K256DF McMinnville are in this package. An LMA took effect on September 15.
