In September 1959, KOMO tv became the ABC affiliate. Bruce Vanderhoof and wife Geri Lindsey hosted a red carpet event at the Olympic Hotel which aired on KOMO TV, welcoming ABC executives and network tv stars.
In the late 1950s, one weekly feature was 90 minutes of live Big Band performances by the likes of Les Elgart and Harry James, broadcast from Parkers Ballroom. The programs aired at 11:30 pm on nights the performers came to town.
