George Hicks became a very famous broadcaster during WWII. A report he made, during the D-Day invasion, while onboard the ship USS Ancon, is a classic example of war reporting. Audio of that famous NBC broadcast can easily be found online.

Add his name along with Edward R. Murrow and Chet Huntley — news men who started here in the Northwest. Well, Murrow went to college here in the Northwest at least.
