KGNW gets FM signal

K278BH/Astoria, Or., has been sold by Gospel Echo, Inc., to Salem/Inspiration Media Inc., for $33,000. Salem will move this translator to the Burien area for FM rebroadcasting of KGNW AM 820. ..Keith Shipman relinquishes his market manager/GSM role at Horizon Broadcasting’s Central Oregon cluster. New MM/GSM is Jess Hanson, former President and Chief Revenue Officer of Townsquare Media’s cluster in Abilene. Hanson began his career at Buck Owens Broadcasting/Phoenix…Charles Osgood ends a nearly 50 years career at CBS (TV), but radio listeners will continue to enjoy his “Osgood Files” on Westwood One’s network, 4 times daily…

KGNW’s daytime & night directional contours radiate NW so I’m guessing the translator is to give better coverage to city-of-license Burien. Why else would a blowtorch AM signal bother with a low-power FM signal on an impaired frequency (104.1)??
