Paige Hansen on-the-air at KNKX-Tacoma.
Carol Handley, Music Director at KNKX, gave me a tour of the new Tacoma studios this afternoon. There are two on-air studios and two production studios, a large space for community meetings and live musical performance, and of course, plenty of office space for staff, reporters, and music hosts. They are still unpacking office equipment and the thousands of CDs still in boxes.
The Tacoma studios have been in operation for a week. This is considered to be the base of the operations for KNKX and the majority of music programming will emanate from the Tacoma facilities. Morning and afternoon news programming originates in the Seattle studio as do some weekend programs. In conjunction with the Pantages Theatre and other performance venues in the neighborhood, look for more live musical performances from the new Tacoma home of KNKX.
